2000 7.3 Diesel Stalls when cold

The last 3 weeks my Excursion will stall in the first 2-4 blocks of driving first thing in the morning. Typically it will always stop and require restart at the same stop sign aprox 2/10 of a mile from home. If it does not completely stop it is very sluggish as I try and pull away from the stop sign. I can have the gas pedal fully engaged and I may get 2 mph out of it for 50-100 feet. After this clears and or I restart the engin it seems to run fine all day long until the next morning. Any ideas or recommendations?

Does the engine light come on? Does the tach work when cranking? Sound like it could be the cam postion sensor (cheap fix), the tach will not work if this is the case. Alittle more info might help about what its doing when running sluggish or when it cuts out altogether.

Does it sound like a jet engine out of your tail pipe (loud hissing). It probably is your ebpv sticking close until it warms up. You get no throttle response and can't get going faster than 10 mph. I had the same thing a long time ago and the dealer did something to my ebpv. I'll try look it up and see what was done.

Dave.
