Ye Old New Tires/Leveling Kit Questions...

I know that this type of post has had a lot of mileage, so I'll try to keep this short...

I have a friend that can get me a good deal on some BF's for my stock rims (18") on my '04 FX4 SuperCrew. My question is how big can I go with the BF's on stock rims?

I plan on getting the AutoSprings 2" leveling kit to go along with the new tires, and also some new Rancho Shocks...

Does anyone have pics of some 305/65/18's on their stock rims? How have they performed for you?

Thanks in advance y'all!!!

305/65 is as large as my tire guy told me to go. So I did. Some pics in my gallery, I have the 2.5in up front and an AAL in the rear.

305/65/18 BFG A/T
305/70/18 BFG M/T

you have to stay with a 12" wide or narrower tire when using the OEM rims. I've been told people put 12.5" wide tires on the OEM rims, but it makes the rubber only 1/4" from touching the upper control arm

You can fit 35s with the AS kit on stock wheels.
Like tylus said, try not to go to wide.... The wheels are only 7.5" wide to start with, and if they get to wide there's a chance or rubbing.

I'd say to stay with a 305 at biggest. Mostly for MPGs and not to decrease your affective gear ratio.

I've seen people clear some 35x12.50s.
But what they usually are, are the metric sizes that actually measure out to 34.5" and right at 12" wide.

I have a 2" autospring and I have a set of true 34" tires that clear with no rubbing.

So you're not still running your 32" hankooks?

I have a extra set of 34" Super swamper LTBs for hunting season and fun.

Here're some pics with the 34s and 2" leveling kit,(there are also some with the stock BFGs):

the 35x12.5x18 Toyo M/T's I was prospecting are actually 34.8" tall and a true 12.5" wide. then add the aggressive side lugs and clearance issues pop up

it really comes down to test fitting tires. each manufacturer says they're the same size, but in the end, they all are slighty different.

yes. up to a 35" tire will fit just fine with new rims. depending on what style you get, you might get some minor rub at full wheel lock or articulation

2" is iffy
2.5" is the way to go

What kind of backspacing or offset would u be wanting for this? I'd assume 18x8.5?

whatever the stock rim backspacing + and extra 1/2" or 3/4"...that would allow me to fit the 35x12.5x18 Toyo M/T's I want...for me, that would be just about perfect.

the backspacing needs to push the wheels outwards from center...the whole backspacing can be somewhat confusing to describe

remember, I've got a FX4 and they're 18"...so your rims may be differently sized

A 8" wide wheel would be a minimum for me if I wanted to run 12.5" wide tires.
The Backspacing and offset have nothing to do with the width though.
I don't recall what is needed, but what ever factory specs are, they wheels would need to be very close to that to avoid rubbing.

So really you would want the same bs/offset as stock just a wider rim? I have the 18's (lariat).
