How often should I change upper and lower hoses? How about the one from the radiator to the bottom of the resevior(sp)? I am about to change the antifreeze with the Final Charge I got from waly-world. The hoses all feel good and soft but how often does Ford recommend we change it? I RTFM and I did not see a recommended change interval. Any suggestions? I am going to replace the belt also since the system will be drained(I dont have the hose that goes around the belt). Thank in advance for any help.
It's a 2003 (bought in 8/02) F-250, 7.3 w/84K
As long as they are not cracked, weathered, dry rotted or brittle you should be good. 84K isnt a whole lot of miles for them hoses. Ive seen plenty make it 250K+ original. For an 03 truck and how many miles on it i would doubt they need to be replaced. Those types of rubber usualy last 10 years plus. Just make your best judgement call.
Since you are going to take the top line off you might as well change to the around the belt hose, never know when you will have to take the belt off again for you alternator. Also consider putting in a 203 degree t-stat and billet housing
I changed my upper hose like magnum said to the one that goes out and around the serp belt, just ask for a hose for a F350 with the dual alt or ambulance package and it should get you the right one.
I am waiting for the water pump to go south before I order and put in a 203 degree t-stat, but I went on ahead and put on all new rubber on under the hood (hoses and belt) 8 gals of final charge and cleaned the EBPV and EBPV tube. Felt good spending quality time with the stroke.
