John, take a look at the late model f150's in yellow. It's called screaming yellow, paint code D6. I bought 1 gallon of single stage enamel for the frame and wheels, and my supplier said two to three gallons for good coverage on the sheet metal. The sheet metal will be base/clear, so you'll need clear too. Apparently, yellow is one of the poorest colors for coverage, black is the best (duh) so yellows need more coats.

John, as you may recall, I did my 56 in the chrome yellow in the SW and I bought 2 base and 2 clear. I did not use the rest since I did not love the finished tone and went with the sunflower yellow VW 2002, and aded a 5% mix of pearl. I can EM you real nice pic of the two colors side be side as my firewall is still in the CY SW paint.

My neighbour had his 51 5 window chevy painted with the corvette mellinium yellow (by the same guy doing my paint).. and he had a devil of a time getting the paint to be opaque... took 9 coats. said he would NEVER do another modern yellow.

I am about a gallon in on my 55, bed, fenders, running boards. so I think the 3 gal number is more accurate. (course I picked a 3 stage, so its a gallon of each!)..
