Update since my last post several years ago... 2000 Expy - 192K. On my third set of plugs, a couple of coils have been replaced, one alternator and that is about it. I'm **** about fluid... changes oil and tranny. I plan on having this thing a while longer 300K hopefully even though my wife wants a new rig!!! I got her seat covers for Xmas and that will have to do. I can't see selling it for 5 grand to replace it with a huge car payment!! Runs like it did the first day I bought it. Same gas mileage. I burn about a quart of oil in 5000 miles. I run 5/30 Valvoline max life. My 2004 E250 cargo van with the 4.6 has 200k miles. Same oil in it and I'm on the 2nd set of plugs. It has gone through one alternator as well. Otherwise it is golden. Great motors.

We have about a dozen E-series vans with 5.4s in the fleet at my work. I think they all have over 200K on them, and some are over 300K. I don't think we have any in the fleet right now, but we have had several go well over 400K. Even over 400K, they still run great, but they aren't worth putting money into anymore so they either sell them for $500 or strip them of usable parts and send the rest out for scrap.

My father has a 1998 f150 (2wd with bigger springs & tonneau cover) with 328,000+ on it. The thing still spins tires and has what seems like full power. Original tranny (I honestly dont think anything has EVER been done to the tranny maybe fluid changes at 100k intervals). Just OIL changes, some minor electrical problems, I am pretty sure he has had spark plugs done at 250k or something silly. Same mechanic since it was bought from dealership with 40xK on it....

This is/has been his daily driver for like 12 years and I have used it and borrowed for weeks at a time. Truly made me a believer, as well as all the old fords I see running well....

Why do you think I bought a 2002 F350 4x4 with 117k (v8 5.4l)?

I have a 2000 f150 4x4 that has seen a moderate (hard work and easy) 219,000 miles so far. I've replaced coil packs, plugs, brakes, a passenger side rear axle and axle bearing, rear end bearing (didn't need it but i already had it open), shocks (upgraded to heavy coil overs in rear), A/C dryer, upper and lower ball joints, u-joints, and am about to do the steering shortley. Through all of that my 5.4 still runs like a champ and has never been opened up since the factory. That big boy has had to tow a chevy and a ford 3/4 ton truck on a trailer from one town to another and never struggled. When I need to get something done it delivers. Just put a new paint job on it instead of jumping into another truck note.
