Hello, I just recently got a 1956 F100 and the motor cranks over, there in 12v getting to the coil and points but I get no spark. I checked the dwell with a tach/dwell meter and it says 35. It's been a long time since auto shop and I do not remember if there is a way to test the coil. I remember something about checking the resistance of the primary and secondary of the coil but
forget what a good reading is. Anyone have some advise? Thanks!
Jason:
The dwell is a little high, Should be about 28 degrees. Open the points up to .015" gap. Replace the coil with one having an internal resistor and eliminate the ballast resistor.
