Unhappy If your truck is not your daily driver what is?

It's just a question I've been thinking about for awhile because my truck isn't my daily driver. With the cost of fuel and winter approaching, I was curious how many of us drive something else to work everyday. The issues for me and driving my truck everyday is distance traveled, I live within 10 miles of work and even if I let the truck warm-up in the driveway between houses (which I'm sure my neighbors just love hearing) Anyway let it warm-up some take off and it's 20 something outside and my truck never reaches operating temperature. Little to not much heat, lousy throttle response, elevated engine noise has to equal more wear to something, then there's that single digit temp thing where you should plug it in and the fact most of us missed out on the heated TT mirrors.

Only drive the truck when I need it for something or when my wife is using the car (Toyota Corolloa). Gas prices keep it parked for the most part. Luckily, I only work every third day, so it keeps the miles down.

Daily driver is a 1984 VW Rabbit Diesel 5 speed.
As of this writing less than 1000 miles on both engine and tranny.
I bought it because of the skyrocketing fuel prices and sold my Audi turbo.
And yes, that's Shell Rotella ELC coolant in the bottle.

Sweet! Didn't they make that in a pick-up version? Clean... But wait gas is cheaper per gallon now. How many MPG are you getting?

I just filled it up, got 35 in urban stop light to stop light conditions.
Yes, the pickup versions look the same under the hood.

Drive mine everyday (when its not broke) and find whatever sled pull I can on the weekends. During the week I regularly stand on it at about mid 500hp and mid 700's at the pulls. I find alot of weak drive line parts LOL.

New Jersey Transit and the New York City Subways are my "Daily Drivers". I only get to drive my truck during the weekends unfortunately. If I could I'd be out there every day drivin the PSD.

Thumbs up Just during racing season..

Well my truck mostly draws looks from the folks at the track. We drag a 31 foot fifth wheel (see gallery) to the ARCA races. I average 10 to 12k a year going to 10-14 races a season. We park the little fifthwheel among high dollar motorhomes in the drivers motorhome lot and almost every race, someone comes over and knocks on our door and wants to talk about trucks. Like the song says....."I love my truck".......We spend a lot of time out on the roads and I notice a lot of other campers and fifth wheels, and I would say 75% of EVERY tow vehicle out there is a FORD PSD and we all have our own stories why this is true.....Keep them rolling...Dave

mine used to be a daily driver but i drive a 95 ranger now the sad thing is they both get the same fuel milage just over 18 the ranger has a 4.0L and is 4X4 i drive the ranger purely on replacement value, getting hard to find a nice 7.3L super-duty with a 6spd b/c everyone that has one doesn't want to get it rid of it

I can't drive another vehicle besides my 7.3. I have 3 others .......a brand new 2007 Totota Tacoma, 91 F150 and a 73 Bronco but I always drive my 7.3. I only drive 14 miles to work but I take my monster.
