power steering troubles
I am changing the power steering pressure hose because the previous owner stated that it was the source of the leak. I was unscrewing it from the pump and what looks like a nipple came out of the pump. I cannot get the hose off of this nipple like piece, to reinsert it back into the pump. I called the ford dealership and the guy said he had way too much on his plate to find the part i need...
Did the pump get ruined when this piece came out the side of it?
Are there replacement parts available for this?
Very frustrated...to say the least.

no the new hose did not have it on it, i put it in the vice(I did not want to do that for fear of ruining the gaskets) and it seperated. Now I just have to hope that it all goes back together leak free.

The nipple is part of the pressure regulator in the pump. Make sure that the tapered oring on the back side of the hex portion of the "nipple" is intact and not damaged. Screw this in first, making sure the regulator piston is in the bore. There should be a teflon oring on the end of the nut, and a regular oring on the end of the line where it goes into the nipple. The new hose fitting should be snug, but won't tighten to keep the line from moving. Do not overtighten it.
