Cool, so what you are saying is that you don't need to mess with the air filter becuase it's the best anyway.

Exactly. FMC got the air filter correct starting with the 6.0 when they partnered with Donaldson to develop the Powercore to fit the PSD. They continued this with the 6.4 and there is also a retrofit package for the 7.3.

fordfish, the sucking sound you hear is normal. the 64 uses a throttle plate to help "close up" the intake to perform a regen more effieciently. the throttle plate could be in any posistion so you may hear the noise one day and you may not hear it the next. now, if you are idling to let your regen finish, stop. idling makes more regens happen so you really arent acomplishing much. just switch off the truck and it will resume when the truck is restarted. the regen time will be much less if it can do it going down the road.

I agree, the FILTER is fine- no problems with this...It is just the vacuum noise should not be happening unless there is restrictions. I am going to look again, but it seems a BIG OBLONG FILTER is used BUT the INTAKE BEZELL inters the upperhalf of this filter.
all the bugs and stuff have been stuck to the upper 1/3 of the filter.
I still do not think the INLET is suffecient, ya I believe all the filter stuff. I'm thinking from the FILTER OUT.
