putting heated mirrors on 99, is it wired ?
my dependable 99 already has the power tow mirrors, but they are not heated and it sucks in the winter. I finally bought me a set of telescoping power heated mirrors and they came with some wire y adapters. My question is ---- Are the 99's wired for heated mirrors ? Or do I have to run a wire and where would I tie this into ? I would think defrost circuit...... but dont know where at..

They are not wired for heat. You can run a wire that is powered with key on. that is the way the factory does it. A lot of people add a switch to turn the heat on and off as they wish.
My truck didn't have power at all, and it was a fun project upgrading to the power/heat/signal mirrors. Let me know if you need anything.

I get that a lot being 5 miles north of the border. For the few times a year that they are actually needed, it really sucks when you don't have them. We had snow a few years back- first time in 100 years they said.
I had the heat on a switch but have since changed that. When I would turn them on, I would usually forget and they would stay on all the time anyway.

I helped my buddy install some aftermarket mirrors on his truck. I went out all with the heat option. I tied it into a 12v thermostat (used in pc's) I had laying around. It had to be rigged a little, but it's fully automatic. One of these days when I am not doing anything, I'll do the same to mine. But he was buying the beer that day, and it was just an out of the blue idea I had.
I guess the wife is right, "Will Work for BEER"
You could use a house one, but it would have to be the newer digital (that use a battery) as the mercury bulb would be very unstable.

I put on 2008 power / heated mirrors on mine. I added a relayed switch to be able to turn mine on and off. I'm ready for the next ice storm that will be due about mid Feb ..

We don't get the kind of cold weather you do up there, but since we're not used to it we hate it more. 30 deg in Texas is like -10 up North. I've thought about heated mirrors but plan on installing heated seats in my truck before it gets too cold.
