Hi,
Project underway re fitting Ford 240/300 into 75 Jeep DJ. Got guards, bonnet, grille off, marked all hoses wires etc. Moved batterbox to other side to make way for clutc/brake master cylinders. Bit of rust in one door, but may just remove doors all together anyway. Looking OK so far, took measurements and AMC six WITH fan attached is only one inch shorter than Ford 240, so with electric fan mounted as pusher outside the grille, should be a neat fit.
Was told that the motor originally was mounted in a sedan, but don't have a clue as to what.
Cheers, Dave.

Ford 240/300 in a Jeep Six?
Hmm.
We had an Australian produced model here based on an upgraded Falcon called a 'Ford Landau' built roughly between the years 1973-1976. It came out standard with the 351 Cleveland engine.
IF, DMV records are correct in my state, the engine I have was transplanted from one of these vehicles. Yet I cannot find any reference to Landau's ever being fitted with 240's. 1973 would have been getting a bit late for the 240 wouldn't they? The 300 possibly, because of Australian Compliance with regard to pollution controls, unless of course it was a backyard retrofit and really, why would you drop back from a 351 to a 240? Given that they utilised different engine mounting perches, OR did they? I was always under the impression that to swap between the big block sixes (240/300) and Clevelands and Windsors, you also had to change the actual perches. I am sure someone who has done one of these conversions will correct me here. The F350 that I have has BOLT ON perches, but again I had been told, but cannot confirm it, that later models say up until 1976 had the perches RIVETED on. Again no big problem, the rivets could always be drilled out and when swapped into another chassis, bolted in with hi-tensile bolts, as read somewhere else in this forum.
Again any thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks,

Hi All,
Just a short update on that 240/300 Big Six into a Jeep. Have stripped the engine out of the DJ, just about ready to install the suspended brake and clutch pedals. Did notice one thing though, original Jeep engine/tranny has slight offset (about an inch) to the LEFT side, and the engine still sitting in the Ford F350 Chassis is offset to the RIGHT. Investigating the possibility of simply swapping the Ford Perches side to side, preliminary measurements say it will go awful close, rear tranny mount crossmember is already drilled to take offset either side. Going to try utilising the existing REAR Jeep cross member (exactly the same but minus the perches) as the FRONT crossmember and as Ford are bolt on perches, hopefully line up that way.
Cheers, Dave64
