Is this normal?

Pretty new to diesel ownership but at start up on a 35 degree day like today i started my truck with no problem, while under idle it automaticly climmed up like 200 rpms or so but when i tapped the fuel pedal and it went back to normal. is this a normal thing? its a 06 psd f350 fx4cc

Yes this is normal. The computer raises and lower the engine idle till the engine is up to temp.
