390 oil capacity?

390 oil capacity?

I just purchased the truck and want to change the oil, anybody know the capacity?

Most take 5 qts with filter change. I hear some guys use 6 but you can start with 5.

The 390 in my 64 Galaxie takes six with filter change and stock pan. That is also what the service manual calls for.

My '75 F-250 w/ 360 takes 6 qts. w/ filter change. Not really needed but I fill the filter before installing it. ( hydrolic lifters, etc.) Got used to doing it that way working on heavy trucks that take almost 2 gallons of oil (turbo diesels).
