I am thinking about swapping to Mile Marker hubs for my 2002 F-250. I noticed a clunking in turns and come to find out both "auto" hubs were still locked. I was able to turn the back and forth a couple times to get them into free mode.
Do I need some sort of conversion kit? I don't do I?
Secondly,
If I was to do this swap and I let someone drive my truck.. What happens if the "Shift on the fly" without knowing the hubs are unlocked. I am hoping you will tell me that there is a clutch inside the t-case that will spin it up to speed before it engages. Even though they would not be in true 4WD, it would save my truck.
Just wanting to make sure it won't damage it if it were to accidently be shifted on the go with the manual hubs unlocked.
I know on my old B2, when I swapped to manuals I could shift it while moving with the hubs in the free position and it was fine.
No conversion kit needed. Remove old hubs, insert new hub body, snap ring then bolt on the dial. It won't be a problem if it accidentally gets put into 4x4, same as with your other vehicle.
that is a good price. I put my in 4x4 mode even though my hubs are unlocked in the summer so the front end diff gets worked and the u-joints get some action . so to answer your question, no it wont hurt the truck because the hubs are unlocked.
Oh no, believe me, I run my 89 B2 around in 4LO with the hubs unlocked all the time. Especially when backing trailers. Much easier on the clutch.
What I was worried about is what happened if the transfercase got shifted into 4x4 with the hubs unlocked while moving. I thought the electric shift units had a clutch that quickly got the front driveshaft up to speed before it engaged. I was correct in my thinking.
I just didn't want to hear the same sound you get when you try to shift a MANUAL shift t-case with the hubs unlocked. OUCH!
Another question. Do I have to unhook the vacuum likes from the hub? I was thinking, since my auto hubs still lock correctly, I may save them incase I ever sell the truck. Plus it would save me from having to disconnect the vacuum.
So will it hurt to not touch the vacuum lines and leave them just like they are?
No you need to at least plug them or else you will have a vacuum leak through the hubs. They don't seal vacuum tight like the originals. Worst that will happen is your vents will switch to defrost temporarily.
I have a 2005 Excursion which has given me trouble lately with getting the hubs to lock on auto, and has given me trouble switching vents from defrost/normal mode.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak or a bad vacuum pump.
Recently I spent a $129 on some Superwinch manual hubs, Wish I had spent the money on Warns and been done with it. I just removed the Superwinch hubs last weekend, due to excessive noise, and a strange hum coming from them. I realized they do not have the needle bearings in them like the originals. Now I have to send them back and buy the Warns. I would make sure the MM's have the needle bearings, if they don't, DON"T buy them.

Arent they supposed to have the needle bearings with them?
Do all the superwinch not come with bearings?
Just worried cuz I have these on my 71 blazer...

I now for sure that the Super Duty Superwinches were not designed with needle bearings-bad design. I'm not sure if your particular model has them or not. At 75-80 on highway they start to make noise, sounds like a big problem. I first thought my hub bearings were going out. But it was the "new" Superwinch manual hubs. I won't buy them again. I've always used Warn before, and tried to save some cash. That didn't work.
