Anyone ever had a roof replaced on this era truck ?

Wondering if anyone has had a roof replaced on a 04 to 07 F 150 ? I need to get the roof replaced on my 07 King Ranch Supercrew from hail damage and was wondering what problems to look for. No moonroof but I have the power slider and satellite antenna. Thanks

I had the roof replaced on my 1999 F150 as a result of hail damage and I can tell you that I would never, ever trust a body shop to do that work again.

I was told that the roof system was designed to be replaced and that only some self leveling seam sealer and 4 spot welds are all that hold it on. However, after rear window leaks, rain gutter leaks, a new wind noise that was not there prior to the replacement and countless arguments with the body shop that did the work, they finally got the truck to an acceptable - not perfect - state.

It got so bad that I refused to take their loaner car back until they fixed the truck. The body shop kept telling me it as a design problem from Ford and I should take the matter up with them. Let's see, the truck was fine till they messed with it, but now it's Ford's problem...

I'm sure I got the worst of the worst and that not all shops are like that one was, however I expected more as it was a perferred body shop by the insurance company...

Best of luck, you may need it.

why fix the roof? I'm 6'3" and I can't see the roof of my truck...seems pointless to me. The hood and other visible body parts, sure

Look into companies that offer Paintless Dent Removal. Depending on your location you may have many options. Colors On Parade (my company) is one that offers it. Dent Wizard, Dent Doctor and others do good work as well. If you're out in wyoming or montana, just look for the best body shop....

I think the job that is done all depends on the shop. One of the local Police Crown Victoria's got shot full of holes, in a gun fight/high speed pursuit and they had to replace the roof, windshield, headlights, grill, radiator, and strobes. The roof came out fine with out any leaks, I think they had the Ford dealer do it. The roof looks as good as new, it's been more than 3 years now and the cop the drives it still doesn't have any problems. So it can be done just depends on how reputable the place the does it is, and how often they do it.<o></o>

I would not re-roof!

Definately use a suction dent puller or fill & repaint
