Hello, im happy that i have finally found a site where i can find some help!
Anyway, i have an 82 F-150 whith a 300 in it. It has the stock 1barel carb and dosnt make power. It has been sitting in the yard for some time and i have just decided to take it up as a project truck. But anyway when i go to start it it dosnt whant to idle, but when it finally runs its realy rich and wont run at 60 mph. And if you need drive train info its 4wheel drive whith the 4speed whith underdrive.
Oh and on a side note if anyone knows the designtions for the 4speed whith underdrive tranny and the transfer case that come whith it i would like that info too.
Thanks in advance!
Sounds like a good time to consider a rebuild of the carb. But before you do that, ensure a good clean airflow and a good ignition system. Then try spraying some carb cleaner through it with the motor running. That could open up soem of the clogged passages.
On that old of a truck, all of your vacuum lines are brittle and maybe cracked (esp the black rubber ones), replace them.
Sorry i wasnt clear.
By designations i mean does it have an NP 208 t-case or the Borg Warner 13-56, and is the underdrive tranny the Ford 3.03, Warner T-18, Warner T19,or NP435 (i know the 3.03 is a 3speed tranny and the rest are 4 speed i just dont know if ford counts the low gear as a running gear or not).
By under dirve i mean the first gear ratio is realy low (the GM ones run about 7:1) i think the ford ones might be called "granny low".
OK, you've got an F-150, so more than likely your t-case is an NP208. Your tranny is either an NP435, T-18, or T-19 if you have a granny low first and no overdrive. You probably don't have the T-19 in a half-ton. I don't recall a Clark 4 speed OD being available. Ford's SROD 4 speed is what comes to mind, but it doesn't have a granny low gear. Anyway, post the tranny code from the driver's door jamb sticker can we can tell you for sure at least which tranny came stock.
well i one upped you guys and got a bit dirty. After i got home from school i crawled under the truck. The t-case is an np-208 and the tranny is an np-435. But thanks for your input
