So after an oilchange, and moving the truck, i noticed a puddle under my 1991 Ford F250 4Wd Longbed....sure enough the pass side steel brake line is broken. Good thing i wasnt driving, yes, bad because they might (will) suck to replace.
My question is (i'm going to replace ALL lines, and i'll probably need new calipers and wheel cylinders b/c the bleeders probably wont come out) does anyone make a preformed (prebent) brake line set for this truck????
I found a preformed Stainless set for 1980-86 Ford F250 Truck 4wd Power Disc Brake, Longbed, 8pc Line Set $185.00 ....but nothing for 91
Anyone have anyideas????
I could get line, bend it, flare it ect.....but this is my plow truck and its supposed to snow this weekend.....
Thanks....tips on line replacement are appreciated as well.....
Page 120 of the 80-96 Ford catalog has replacement line kits and stainless kits. Lots of work as said above.......Local auto parts stores will have individual replacements too......maybe not stainless though.
no. The stuff you buy from Napa, et. al. is seamless steel, and none of it omes pre-formed. Buy a bender (hopefully he'll come with a Lila, j/k) and make it yourself.
Umm, one thing though... just plan on running it end to end. It's a big waste of time to try to splice it together.
As far as the caliper/wheel cylinder, get one while your at the parts store, but don't install it unless you have to. That way, if you need it, you have it.
after a night of soaking in PB Blaster (my favorite) i got to taking out the old line. The line goes from the pass side to the driv side, and all of my wrenches were rounding off the line nut....who ever said on this site to cut the line and slip a 6pt socket on is a genious....they turned out with no problems.
I got the new line bent (the old one has darn near 30 bends ) and im waiting until tomorrow so i can get a new clip for the pass side where the steel attatches to the rubber hose.
Thanks again for all of your tips
Ryan

i am the one who said to cut the line trick and using a six point socket.
i am doing the same thing to the same line right now, but one of the sides was too rusted for the socket to grab onto and i had to use vise grips on that one.
what a hassle.
bet you think twice about doing them all at once after this.
