I'm in Tn...There is a Nissan plant here...really helped the area they moved into...Same with all the areas that all the other companies moved into...It's bad for your area that they left, but good for the area they moved to...

The Big 3 handed the passenger car market to the Japanese in the 1980's on a silver platter.
The Big 3 built a lotta crappy cars in the 1970's & 1980's. The quality was the pits.
The Big 3 and the UAW stood idly by while the Japanese, and other foreign companies opened assembly plants in the US without a union presence.
It all had to do with arrogance, plain and simple.
No one thought back then that the Japanese would make a go of it here.
They figured that the American consumer would tire of econoboxes.
They figured that the Japanese would just fold the tent and head back to Japan.
They figured wrong.

I'm not kidding, and you Sir, if you had studied the American car market for over 40 years as I have ...wouldn't make a silly statement like that.
As far as I'm concerned that Toyota, Nissan, Honda etc are anti-American cars. JUNK JUNK JUNK..

I'm no fan of Toyota. I have never owned one, have no plan to do so...but facts are facts.
By the way...do you shop at Wal-Mart or Target? Where are your electronics and appliances made?
Most of this crap is now Made in China.
Buying all this stuff sure doesn't help the US economy much, considering the US has a Multi-Billion Dollar Trade Deficit vis a vis China.
It's a Global Economy today...like it or not.

Look at the stats from mid-sized suv's for the 08's;

In fact you can search any make any year. Go right ahead, be my guest tough guy!
and while you're at it go right ahead and compare rollover stats and pick the year across the makes at;

Shivy was no better, and in many cases they weren't even close to Ford yet who gets the bad pr pasted all over the headlines!?!

fyi The first Ford I owned was a 64 Fairlane 500, second Ford was a 66 Ford F250 Camper Special, both in the mid 70's. They were both great vehicles and wish I still had em, and they are still alive and kicking btw. I know who owns both of em.
I'm well aware of Ford problems back in those days, but I'm not blind to the fact the other manufacturer's in those same days had plenty of problems of their own and were imo certainly no better than the Ford's of the same time.
