Shoulder mounted seat belts into a 75 Highboy

Has any one converted their late model 70's truck Shoulder mounted seatbelt harness post into a 75 model? got a 78 model set and was wondering the procedure to swap them to a 75 model.

There is more to it then just bolting them up. The late model shoulder belts have a heavy gage bracket that is part of the "B" pillar to bolt the retractor assembly to. It is integrated into the body seams of the pillar to be as strong as possible to support the stress load of a crash. If you do not make the mount correct and place it correctly in the truck, during a crash you can break the mount and have a busted steel bracket flying around the cab or create injuries from the belt not being positioned correctly. IMO Not a good idea. I know a 3-point belt is better than a lap belt but not if it is going to break loose and wack you in the back of the head....... OUCH!

Ford first offered shoulder belts on F Series trucks in 1971 as an option.

Sample 1973/75 part numbers: D3TZ-10611A72/3-A R/L Black front seat belts with shoulder harness. Other colors were offered.

Prolly hard to find today, as not too many ppl ordered them.

I swapped mine in using a 77 cab. Other than that, I would be a lot of work.

Thanks for the replies; I understand the safety factor & want it to specs, Just hoping someone has a set of those 3 point harness that in the post from Dennis. I realize the B pillar is the determining factor; can't see cutting and welding those brackets. Aviation 3 point is probably the best solution.
Again thanks.

Another option would be to get a set of newer seats with the shoulder belt built into the seat.

There are some five point harnesses that are designed to bolt to the floor. Not really sure that's the look you're going for but you be stuck in that seat for sure!
