Spinal surgery--and it's done as an out patient procedure! We are blessed to live in an amazing time (and place) when world class medical care is readily available. I'm glad to hear you are doing well and wish you a speedy recovery and lasting relief.
Take it easy, no sliding that flathead around the shop for a while.
I had a diskectomy L4 L5 ( or was it L5 S1?) a few years ago. I probably didnt take it as easy as i should have afterwards. Finally feeling about 80 to 90% depending on the day.
I have had two looking at another one , what did you have done
Laminectomy with removal of abnormal facets and/or pars inter-articularis with decompression of cauda equina and nerve
roots for spondylolisthesis, lumbar
Basically they removed a bunch of bone spurs
Oooph
Sit back and take it easy. Do what they tell you and do your physical therapy. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the healing goes well.

Thanks for the encouragement. I plan to do as they say, basically to walk as much as possible. not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk, and no bending at the wist. My follow up appt. with the surgeon the day after new years and will begin physical therapy that same day. The hardest part of the Dr's orders for me is the "Do not drive for 2 weeks", that may not be held to.
Good to hear surgery went well. Sounds like you’ll be able to attend the Grand Nationals. Listen to the Docs and take your time. Nothing worth getting in a rush about.

Yes, I would like to make it to the Grand Nationals, if so I will probably get a swap meet spot to start unloading some of the excess parts inventory I have amassed over the past several years.Lots of Flathead and Bonus Built parts.
My 3rd lumbar surgery changed my life to say the least. I'm a regular at pain management and despite the challenges, I'm thankful for what I can still do. Good luck with your recovery. Sounds like you have a good plan with the walking and PT. The biggest mistake most people make is over doing it when they feel better. I KNOW because I'm a guy that can't sit still. Like most gear heads, I HAVE to be tinkering on SOMETHING in the garage. I'm glad all went well.
