Question What to do with old F350 rotors?

I replaced my rotors this weekend, and have the old ones. They're heavy and must contain pounds of recyclable steel. What do folks do with these old parts?

Depending on their weight, I have used them for grinder stands bases, counterbalance weights, even wheels for a welding cart.
If you don't have any use for them yourself, put them in the free section on Craigslist. Someone will pick them up.

They're useful for many things. Some suggestions you've already received.

After I changed my last pair out, I saved the one that was in reasonable condition for use as a wood chipper flywheel. The plan is to make four 3/4" wide, angled slots and mount chipping knives over that slightly overhanging the slots.

Mount that to a large diameter shaft (3") with a 1/2" thick metal plate to bolt the rotor to, and drive all that with some pulleys and a 3600 RPM lawnmower engine of reasonable size.

Yes, that's the foundation of a homemade wood chipper. The case it will be in will be made of bent 1/2" thick plate for safety reasons.

Take them to the steel recycling place, along with your other scrap steel. They'll even pay for it.

Paperweight???

Seriously if you have enough other scrap metal lying around to make it worth while I would take them to the scrap yard and get a few extra $$$$

metal recycling centers typically pay anywhere from $4 per hundred to $7 per hundred. One place near me pastes "todays rate" on their sign at the main road, so if it looks decent enough I'll load up and haul a pile over.

The last load I dropped off was "heaping", and almost 3000 lbs. Got about $220 or so.

1/2 filled up the truck, the other half paid my cable bill LMAO

You could use them as bases/stands for signs. Weld the pole to the rotor. I have seen that at car places. Makes them to heavy to just walk away, yet easy enough to move.

If they are still in spec, turn them, and save them for your next brake job. That's what I do. Always have spare rotors for the brake jobs, so I don't have to try and get a spare car to get them turned.

I love the chipper idea, in fact, I'm fascinated and impressed by all your stupid and crazy ideas.

at seven bucks a hundred, I'd guess those two rotors would score me . . .around a buck?
I think I'll probably toss them. they can rust at the dump.

and Those rotors make for some good wheel / tire blocking.
