advise me on 1990 emissions removal
I want to get as much emissions junk off my truck as i can, but i need to know what i can remove without messing the ECU.
Ive got my Hanes manual that says how to replace some emissions parts, so i can remove some stuff but what about the coffee can, 02 sensors etc. and all the wiring and such?
advise me on how to get my truck free from the EPA handicapps!

The coffee can is a vaccuum resevour I believe so you need that. Leave the O2 sensors, your EFI wont work correctly or efficiently without them. If someone makes a replacement pully to replace the air pump then thats one down. Remove the air tube from the air pump and the exhaust and take it out. Hmmm the EGR then. I would find or make a plate to cover the opening on the plentum the EGR attaches to. Im not sure where the tube on the bottom of the EGR valve goes, but you could trace it and see if it can be removed or just unscrew the tube from the EGR and cap it off.

nope try agian . the air pump and assorted crap including the converters can go they totally choke these trucks .
also dont remove the egr, it runs better with it .
and like prevoisly metioned you need the 02 sensors and the vaccum tank

If you live where they do a smog check and the guy does the visual like he's supposed to, big fat FAIL. Removing most anything will effect performance and removing the air pump will effect the cat and raise your emmisions. If you're not concerned about emmisions pull just the air pump and wait to pull the cat or go ahead and pull it. All the rest has a definitive effect on the ECU even if it's not directly connected. Had to learn all this while I was working in California on U-Hauls. Customers trying to save a buck and they made it worse. You'd be surprised.

You want some advice - leave it all on there. This isn't 1976. Engineers figured out long ago how to put emissions equipment on an engine and not handicap it. Take everything off, and it will run worse than it does now. The computer is designed to run with all the emissions stuff in place. Take it off and the computer won't be able to compensate.

as much as i hate emissions crap on efi trucks like that you can't get the truck to run worth a damn unless you want to chip your computer and what not. you remove the egr it will most likely throw a check engine light same with some other stuff. the only thing i agree on is the late 80s and earlier trucks with carbs with all the emissions stuff. I just stripped a 87 econoline 350 with a 460 with air injection tubes 2 air pumps all sorts of vacume lines and switches and had to re route the evap line from the fuel tank to the canisters and left them that way with no purge lines on them. i mostly did this because you have to pull all sorts of crap just to take a valve cover off to change the gaskets. again though thats a carbed setup not a efi setup so it really makes no diff if i pull it off.
