buy a haynes manual. it will give you most of the spec answers. it's well worth $20. a lot of people will have brand preferences and will most likely start some sort of off-topic argument.
give it a few minutes and you'll start hearing sides from people
If it's not burning/leakin too much oil, go with 10-30, (especially with winter coming around the bend) if it is burning/leakin oil go with 10-40.
Everyone will tell you go with a motorcraft oil filter, I used to run Fram, but then I discovered that motorcraft filters are the same price as a Fram, so I run them now since people smarter than me say they are better.
Your tranny takes ATF (Mercon III???) I don't remeber exactly which one though (its the one all Ford auto's use).
For rear end oil, I filled mine with Lucas oil stabilizer, I don't remeber how much though (I think around 3 quarts). Good ol 80-95 will work as well.
For sparkplugs I like Bosch platinums, but Autolites are a very popular item. Get Ford 9mm racing sparkplug wires though. The gap on my 302 is set at .56 but I'm not positive if it is the same for a 300 I6.
Lucas fuel addivite worked wonders on my truck and even got my back fuel pump workin good again (I guess it was clogged because the truck would choke down if I was runnin 70).
I run Fram air and fuel filters and I haven't had a problem yet.
