white smoke?? help!!

Temperatures here in the morning are hovering around 40* i believe maybe a little higher maybe a little lower. Upon the first start up in the morning my truck pours white smoke out the exhaust for about 5-10 seconds then stops. A similar situation also happened yesterday after it had been sitting and cooling down for a while. I started it up and revved it a few times and white smoke would come out. Eventually it cleared up to a mix of black and white, then just black. This white smoke started yesterday morning, which was the first day of the cold temperatures. It also was the morning after i made my own EBP tube and cleaned the sensor, if this could posibly have had an effect on it and caused something to happen. I was wondering if the glow plugs could possibly be not working properly, what is the proper procedure to test them.

Thanks in advance,
Nic
