New toys and some weekend work
Well, I just got paid for some medical research I did (yes, I was the the guinee pig and no, I did not grow a fourth ear) so I went shopping. I bought an air compressor at Sears (26 gallon 1.6 hp) included impact wrench and ratchet. I also got a 3ton floor jack; two jack stands, and a creeper package as well. I also went to the new Harbor Freight that is five minutes from my house and looked around.
So, today I got to work breaking in the compressor and getting my truck ready for the car show at my work. I figured I would try to clean and touch up my truck, but feel it is like putting lipstick on a pig. I touched up the engine area with paint and then went to work in the cab. I painted all the black metal things under the dash like the pedals, gear and transfer case shifters, heater fan, and couple of other things. I also took off the little piece of aluminum molding on the rocker panel and discovered more rust (yay!!! more parts I will need to get off of Dan's donor truck. It is looking like the cab swap aint such a bad idea)
I took off the passenger side tires (thanks to the new jack, jack stands, and impact wrench) and painted the wheels with minimal overspray. I even painted the hubs and lug nuts. I plan to do the other side tomorrow. I soon learned that I need to get a longer hose for the compressor (it is only 25')
If the weather holds out, I will finish doing the wheels and then wash and wax the truck before the Wednesday show.
I will post pics showing the before and after of the wheel paint soon.

And speaking of an old GT40, checkout this short clip; and up the volume.

Slightly off topic; Karl, did you ever make it to Fleet Week?
If you get first place, maybe you can give us all a ride in your Ford GT.
And new toys are always fun.
It's the Tim the Tool Man Taylor Binford thing. More Power!

Car show canceled due to rain. Rescheduled for next summer. Damn
Here is a video of an arrogant Brit who hates American cars, but loves the Fort GT. It is worth watching just for the engine noise and seeing the improved GT in the second half.

ctionsThat is an awesome video. Too bad I don't have the $$$ to buy that Ford. I would even settle for the "mere" 550hp version.
Duh, shows you what I know, I have been calling it a GT40 and it is the Ford GT. My bad. Not quite bleeding Ford blue yet, but working on it.

The Ford GT is way more affordable than the GT40 ($150,000 compared to $2+ million)

Just found this:
They (Ford) "wanted" to sell the 1967 GT40 MKIII (street version) for..................$18,500.

Short read, and some nice pictures.
