79 Ranchero Front Suspension Rebuild

I was wondering if anyone had any input......
I have a 1979 Ranchero 351m. Lets just say the car just about drives like a boat. You go up and down and roll left and right on every turn and bump. I think it's time for a front end suspension rebuild. I have done lots of work on cars, but suspension is an area that i have never gotten to. Are there any kits out there that would get me just about every part to do the rebuild? Any special tools needed or things i should know?

Sounds like new shocks may cure some of your problems.

Shocks would be a good place to start.

It's operating as designed....

Check Hellwig

http://www.hellwigproducts.com/products/default.asp

They do not list your rig, but see if they can bend one up for you about twice the diameter of the stocker, front and rear.

If you can't get a better bar, get new urethane bushings for what you have. You probably have 1-1 1/2 inches of slop in your bar right now.

Stiffer springs and two shocks per wheel would be next. You're fighting an uphill battle here............

The Performance Suspension parts are really first rate!!! I've used a number of their kits on rebuilds and found the parts to fit great and work even better, especially the kit with the polyurethene bushings.....

I bought a 79 Ranchero 500 in the early 90's for resale and I swear it had a 351W eng. It was not modded in any way, just stock.
