Question from down under

Gooday from down here . Love the FTE site. I have a quick question...... hopin you fellas can help me. As I understand some 460`s had a SAE bolt pattern. Question is ,was there an adaptor that mounted to the standard bolt pattern or were the engine blocks cast with the SAE pattern . I,m interested in aquiring a block or an adaptor as I,ve been messing with trying to adapt a 5sp o/d spicer box to one of the 460,s I have. The bellhsng on the box is SAE. Regards from down here

I'm not sure what you meen, If you are talking about standard bolt pattern being the windsor family (small block) 302 351w, than i don't think the 460 ever had that, however the 400 did but rare.I'm not sure of an adaptor, maybe someone will chime in and help out. Post this in the 385 forum probably get more responce.
Sorry i wasn't much help.

As far as I know, and I'm pretty sure this is true for the states, all 460's have the same bellhousing pattern. I've never heard of a different pattern in all the years I've been reading this site.

But I don't know what an SAE pattern is, either.

Have you looked into a company called advance adapters? They sell stuff like this for a million different applications.

Thanks for your replies fellas , Ill take your advice and pose the question in the 385 site . As I understand some 460,s were used in an industrial application and had a SAE bolt pattern that accomidated such things as generators ,pumps ,etc . The SAE bolt pattern is symetrical and is used round the world for many different applications ,the g/box Im trying to adapt to is a 5sp spicer o/d and has an aluminium sae housing Im well on the way to making an adaptor though the simplest way would be to use a block that already had the identical bolt pattern. Regards from down here , the advice and knowledge on this site is priceless.
