'81 F100...differences from F150?

Hi guys, new around here. Site looks awsome! I have an '81 F100 and am wanting to do the 4x4 swap. I want to just accumulate the needed parts as I find them(waitin' for killer deals!) and when I have a pile of parts, install. I've looked around and if it was an F150 I kinda know what I need, but will 150 4x4 parts bolt up in a 100? It has the small 5x4.5" bolt circle wheels, and a c4 tranny, but thats all I've been able to see so far. So, do any of y'all know what the differences between a F100 & a F150 are? Don't want to buy a pile of parts that don't fit! I would just buy a 4x4, but I like THIS truck! You guys probly know what I mean!

Thanks- John

Drivetrain- 300ci six/C4 auto/9" rearend w/ 5x4.5" bolt circle

Welcome to the site the only thing is F150 has more leaf springs than a F100 so basically a F100 was lighter duty suspension compared to the F150 good luck with the swap

You will need the frontend, the tranny/transfer case(this will be a c6 or AOD) and I would get the rearend so the wheel patterns will match, and there will also be no worries about the gear ratios matching.

If you want to change to 4x4 rear springs, you are going to have to drill out the rivets on your brackets, and install brackets for the 3 inch wide 4x4 springs. The Ford dealer has the brackets new for about $40.00, since they tend to rust out a lot.

The power steering gear boxes are the same for 2wd and 4wd.
