Any difference in Mercury Heads and Ford Heads??

Spoke to a gentleman today that has a 53 Merc, well, one head got ruined at the machine shop and we both got to wondering if a Ford head could be used on the Merc block.

Smile 49-53 Mercury Heads.

I have a machined fresh pair of 1950 Mercury Heads , that I just got back from Daytona Auto Machine. These are the cast heads that say Mercury on them.
I had them machined out to compare to the Aluminum OFFY 400.'s . This heads will take the high lift 400 cams and the larger Chev. type valves for your flathead motor. These heads are copper coated inside with a black powder coat on the outside. These have not been put on a motor since I got them back. If you want a stock look on your flattie but want High Performance inside, then these are what you need. I am only selling these becauce I sold the Mercury I had. I have $ 438.00 in these head. I will take a rock bottom price of 300.00 for them. You would not be disappointed. You can use these on a stock motor as well. Let me know if you need them. Thank you Dave.
memorylane60@charter.net. They are still in the box . shipping would be around 35.00 . I live in Michigan These heads were Magnfluxed and trued.
These are one of a kind heads.

To answer your question, yes, Ford and Mercury heads will interchange. The Ford heads have slightly compression ratio depending on which year they are. 1952/53 EAB heads are the ones that are desired. 8RT, 8BA or other variations are lower compression.

Merc 8CM heads are similar to 8RT as far as compression ratio goes. Any other Ford head would improve things a bit.
