steering box

steering box

on my 79 there is alot of play in the wheel and I can tell it is the steering box the screw with the nut on top of the box is that an adjustment screw I really don't want to buy a new one

That adjustment should only be performed by a qualified mechanic with the proper tools.

Too many times have people ruined their steering box by mis-adjustment.

DIY'ers....See the shop manual for details.

Have you put the truck up on a hoist and checked the front end yet ?

yea I got the front end apart I am doing the brakes ujoints and checking the inner and outer bearings. before I took it all apart with the tires on the ground you can turn the steering shaft by hand and see it turning the steering box without the pitman arm moving.

that would be me...but the good thing is I learned a lot about my frontend. don't forget to check your drag link, ball joints too...
