2007 F-150 Lariat 5.4 stock exhaust...too new to do anything. Right now I'm enjoying the quietness of my ride. I'd go with a true dual exhaust, Flowmasters probably, exiting out one side behind the wheel kinda like stock. That's what I did on my '72 F250, 2-1/2" all the way. What a rumble coming from a 428,(7.0 for you metric geeks); sometimes it sets off car alarms when I go by a parked car and yet it's not loud until I romp on it!

I have an 07 Reg Cab FX4 with 5.4L engine and a Banks Monster Exhaust with 5x6 oval tip. My dad has an 05 FX4 with 5.4L enginer and a Banks Monster Exhaust with a 5" round tip. Both of us agree that the exhaust is the perfect match between between comfort and sound. When you step on the gas it sounds like a well behaved muscle car with a very deep tone, yet at highway cruising speed you can hardly hear it. The fit was perfect and it looks awesome. The big tip really compliments the deep sides on the box.

2 reasons not to
1. they dump the exhaust under your truck bed. anything after the cutout will have exhaust soot all over it.
2. those cutouts are subject to rapid temp changes and moisture. they tend to fail open/shut and sometimes they will just rust out on ya
you can get a nice performance exhaust that sounds almost stock. Gibson specializes in that.
