Did anyone get the extended warranty?
I am just curious if anyone sprung for the extended warranty. I did and my reason was that I am hard on the truck and every Expy I have driven had something large go wrong before 100k. At the mileage I drive, the loan should be payed off near the 100K mark.
99 Tranny at 60K
2000 Tranny at 88K, Water pump/Radiator at 74K.

I think I am going to have to purchase it. Every other Ford I have purchased it and it paid off so I will probably have to bight the bullet and buy the 5 yr 100K one. Brand new truck and already had the valve body replaced in the transmission, I would be surprised if I didnt have other issues by 100K.

Ford ESP rip off
If you buy it,, but he bumper to bumper coverage.
I bought the mid level ESP plan because it said it covered power window and power seat motors. HOWEVER, when the drivers capt chair quit working, I brought it in to the dealer. The motor would run, but the seat would not move forward, as if the gear was stripped on the track. What they dont tell you is that the motor and seat track is all one assembly and must be replaced as a unit, and of course, the motor/seat track unit is a non covered part number. So, in my opinion, to say that the plan covers seat motors is a FRAUD.
Also, why does Ford have 2 different seat track/motor units for a 98 Expy, a truck in its second year of production? My guess is they did a redesign after 1 year, due to problems with the original design. Ford dealer wanted $600+ just for part, plus labor. I was so pi------ I found one online for $320 and did it myself. I love my truck but I hate the way Ford treats their customers.

I bought one of these for a 95 T Bird I had once. The dealer I bought it from went on and on about how wonderful the extended warranty was. But if you read the fine print, only the DIRECT parts and labor are covered. And then, say a cam shaft had a lobe go flat. It only pays for the cam shaft and related parts plus labor. ALL other labor or parts are not covered. So if the power steering pump, water pump or something are damaged in the repair process. Those parts and labor NOT covered.
Better read the fine print as this is where they make the money on these things.

First and foremost you might want to make sure the Dealer is selling you the “Ford” extended warranty and not some 3rd party one, that is if you want to be assured that is will be honored at all Ford Dealers, here are the plans I got
Ford Premium Care ESP (Extended Service Plan) 7 years 100k $0 deductible.
Ford pre-paid maintenance; I got the OPTIONAL scheduled maintenance plan 6 years or 100,000 miles $0 deductible. Because the scheduled maintenance is different on the 2008's then the 2007's I paid extra for the "Optional" plan so the oil gets changed every 5,000 and not 7,500 miles. Also the plan only covers Ford Synthetic-Blend oil so at the time of service I will pay about an extra $20 because I want Mobile-1 Full-Synthetic. By the way it holds 7 quarts.
