2007 GMC Sierra Denali

Well, I am not a fan of the exterior styling but the interior is sweet. I saw one up close and the inside is awesome. The thing that shocked me was the power plant. The guy who owned it said all-aluminum and 400HP and 400+TQ. I thought he was pulling my leg until I read this.

I love that truck, I think it's the best looking truck out now. There is one near my work if I had the cash that would be my next ride

Try to pay attention this time.....

The Denali was probably the smoothest truck I've ever driven.

It is easily the best looking truck out there (It resembles the PREVIOUS Super Duty)

The interior is Jag like.....frikin' oustanding.

The motor rumbles but uses the goofy GM torque management that does not allow full power for 4(?) seconds.

Seat of the pants, the Tundra owns it. The 30 HP extra the 6.2 has over the GM 6.0 SHOULD make it .3 or so quicker in the 1/4; the 6 speed transmission might cut another .2 or so.........that would make it still nearly 2 seconds slower than the Tundra.

HOWEVER, GM dropped the ball by not making this powertrain (6.2 AND 6 speed) available across the board.....considering it actually gets a HIGHER EPA rating than even the 5.3)

Another GM brain fart....the Denali Sierra is the only 1/2 ton from GM with 4 wheel discs.... I don't get it.

The Denali only is available in 2WD or AWD.....basically a street truck only (accounts for the smoothness)

GM during the latest redesign canned the rear A/c vents that were available on the previous crew cabs....I don't get it???

I was very close to buying the more expensive Denali over the Tundra. Here are the reasons I chose the Toy.

Power still favors the Toy.....regardless of the printed numbers. In fact, the 6.0 has similar numbers to the Toy but on a dyno there was a much larger gap favoring the Tundra......and on the track it showed.

Rear seat room in the GMC was more than ample.....the Toyota is like being in a limo back there INCLUDING recling rear seats!!!

Rear a/c vents.....try telling the wife and dogs they're not important in Las Vegas.

The Toy has a real 4Wd system with a low range.

The Toy has a much better truck stance/height....important for launching a boat at our shallow ramps....remember Fred???

Price......the GMC was over $5,000 more/

If there was a GMC Sierra with the Denali drivetrain but real 4WD and the Denali's 4 wheel discs, I may have lived with the smaller rear accomodations and MAYBE the lack of vents......of course the price would have to be equal or a tad LESS than the Toy.

The GMC is a great truck.....just missing a few details for ME.

I think it would be slower since it only has a 3.42 rear end versus the 4.30 in the Tundra.

Easier to type than all that speculatin' math, too.

GREAT point..........I never even considered that.

Double OD AND 3.42's could be a reason a 400HP truck gets 20MPG!!!

I was soooo close to getting the GMC.....the 0% for 60 months nearly had me. (got 1.9% from Toy, missed their 0% by less than a month)

20mpg? GMC's site states 12/18. I was surprised that it was that bad. Heck, my V10 get 13-14 with a 7000 lb truck.

No use speculating about it:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=120718

This isn't a hard-edged performance machine like a Lightning or Ram SRT-10, but instead a truck with a sophisticated, sweetly composed drivetrain. The engine pulls seamlessly from just off idle to its 6,000-rpm redline and is perfectly matched to a six-speed automatic transmission that shifts with velveteen smoothness. There's a small switch on the column-mounted shift lever for manual shifts, but left to its own devices, this 5,309-pound two-wheel-drive truck hauls to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds and rips through the quarter-mile in 15.0 seconds at 92.1 mph.

This is much quicker than the Lincoln Mark LT, which takes 9.6 seconds to get to 60 mph and then reaches the quarter-mile in 17.1 seconds at 80.9 mph. It's even noticeably quicker than the Cadillac Escalade EXT that gets to 60 mph in 7.0 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 90.6 mph.

But the GMC Sierra Denali is not the quickest truck on the market. That title is held by the new Toyota Tundra with its 381-hp, 5.7-liter V8. In our testing, the four-wheel-drive Tundra Double Cab pounds to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds at 93.7 mph, even though it weighs 328 pounds more than the Sierra Denali.

Sometimes power isn't enough to guarantee dominance. Or maybe either GMC or Toyota or both are wrong about the power numbers they're publishing.

I love the last paragraph................

This site shows 20/14......I seem to remember 20 on the window sticker.

From the descriptons in the posts, the Denali is a car with a bed to haul mom's groceries.

18/19/20...............we're kinda splittin' hairs.

If it gets anywhere near those #'s with that kind of performance, I'm impressed.

[my Tundra averaged 17MPG highway at speeds my V10 wouldn't even pull, I'm currently at about 16 overall. My V10 is 11 overall and 13 at a STEADY highway speed (70ish)]

Yes and no.......it is a very gussied up, low slung vehicle but the towing and payload specs are right up there.

And to me, it's just a great looking truck...inside and out. What's funny is the very first thing wifey said when we were shopping was, "That thing needs a lift kit."..LOL!! (I'm sure I would have ripped that painted lower bumper off by now)

Just to be fair; it's the only GM half-ton pickup that comes with disc brakes as standard equipment... assuming you don't consider the Avalanche to be a pickup.

You can order a regular Silverado or Sierra with the "max towing" (or whatever it's called) option package and you get 4-wheel discs. It's funny listening to the bowtie boys trying to explain why drums are better than discs.
