I was curious about propane injection since reading it in a magazine, what size tank would be sufficient to see good numbers from, will one off a bbq be to small? I want to find something that will work with a toolbox in my bed. Last is it safe? Oh ya its for a 02 Ram. Sorry.

I have a 10 gal tank on mine it lasts about 2 fillups.

BBQ tanks are to small and unable to flow enough propane. A pair of BBQ tanks flowing in parallel will work

 

Find it kind of funny the Ram guys are trying to hang around with the real truck guys for answers...

 

Bite me, I got a '76 F-250 Camper Special I think i'm more then qualified to hang here.

Thanks Phydeaux88 I think a 10 gallon tank will be suffice for now, know any good toolbox manufacturers or did you have to make a custom one up? All I can find is toolboxes for extra gas tanks.

My tank is mounted inboard the frame on the passenger side. I had a skid plate made for it to protect against puncture.

What kind of injection system are you looking at?

 

I was looking at the MSD ignition digital propane injection system, i'll probably just fab up a some mounts in my toolbox I don't really want to put under the truck, just the way I drive I don't trust it.

I would be carefull putting it in a toolbox . If a leak was to occur , the fumes would accumilate in the tool box ....huge fire danger .

 

Nothing wrong with a cummins , I love em . I just have too much invested in my 6.9 .

 

Thats a good point on how flammable it is I guess i'll have too look in a different place to mount it probably inboard on the passenger side or something. Thanks guys.

i have the MSD kit and you cannot use BBQ tanks...u need liquid not vapor...

 

I didn't know that, thanks for the info I think i'll go check with my local diesel shop to see what they say.

Check into the Powershot 2000
Its a vapor phase system. Much safer than liquid phase
