axle seal
About 2 weeks ago i took my truck in to have the passenger side axle seal replaced. The job went well and it hasn't leaked since, however i was charged 230 dollars. My question is how hard is it to change myself? I can get the part for $8 at the parts store and my driver side is leaking. Has anyone done it and is it hard to do? Id really like to save the $222 if possible.

$230 sounds reasonable to me. You have to jack up one side of the axle, pull the tire/wheel, back off the brake adjustment, open and drain the rear axle cover, pull a "c" clip holding the axle in, pull the axle shaft, have a special tool to pull the rear axle wheel bearing, press in a new bearing, replace the inner and outer bearing and seal, slide in the axle shaft, install the "c" clip, replace the rear axle cover, fill with fluid, install the wheel/tire and adjust the brake. I might of missed a couple of steps, but it would take me 3-4 hours by myself.
