Tuners & Fuel Mileage

Tuners & Fuel Mileage
I'm sure this has been asked before, I just want to get an up to date answer. I have a 2005 F350 with 6speed manual. I've got a SCT 1704A and like the way it works. It's simple and according to my EGT gauge it's not getting the truck too hot. My uncle has a 2006 F250 with automatic. He wants to put a "chip" or "tuner" on his strictly to get better fuel mileage. He's happy with the trucks power as it is and dosn't want to hurt the longevity of the truck. Also would want to keep the operation of the tuner as simple as possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

SCT Excal with custom tunes. Matt at Spartan Diesel Technologies is the most popular tuner around this forum. He can provide files to do specifically what you are looking for. Increase fuel mileage with little increase in power and moving the shift points around. And since it is a tuner it is extremely easy to use, you don't have to install anything. You just plug it in and install the new file and unhook it.

Sounds like Matts stock plus (or what ever it has evolved into now) is what your Uncle is looking for. It disables the EGR without throwing a code and is geared twards those who are looking for simply better fuel mileage. Although Matt cannot guarantee a specific ammount of mileage increase, he will guarantee an increase. If you look over the threads here in the last 3 pages (SCT tunes, by Matt or something similar) you will get a realistic average of what to expect.
