I have been on this sight a few times before but have not posted much.
My quistion is i have been thinking about upgrading the turbo on my late 99 Psd
and i found this turbo on ebay #120158781653 i am pretty sure it is the van turbo exhaust housing. I was wontering if that is a good price what kind of hp it will support and what the other options are. I am looking for a turbo that will support bigger injectors sometime in the future. If i used this turbo i would put on a ATS compressor housing. I just wanted to know what you guys thought about this turbo. thanks
all that is, is a rebuilt stock turbo with a banks wheel (which DOES NOT move more air than the stock one) and a 1.15 ar exhaust housing and non-ebpv flange on it. it would be great if you tow alot because it will lower EGT quite a bit. with stock injectors its going to be pretty sluggish on the bottom end (lots of turbo lag). for a few hundred you can get a true high performance turbo ie. turbonetics, garrett gtp38r, ect
I picked up my van turbo for $350 at a junk yard, rebuilt it with a kit from rons turbo shop on ebay for $100, and got the Beans Diesel EBPV delete for another $100. When it comes time for a chip ill get the ATS housing. Im happy with it tho the bottom end is laggy untill it lights up. The top end is much better then the stock turbo, from what it feels like on the highway. Also the van turbo can handle about 38psi safely.
