Water temp and Oil psi socket size?

Does anyone happen to know offhand what size these are to remove on a 90' F150 302? I just don't have the funds to go buy a set or anything. Thanks.

Pair of pliers works fine for me.

There's a special socket, but there's a special tool for just about everything.

Mine have never been removed and with 257,000 km/s on the stuff in the block it ain't easy. I tried the pliers believe me.

Sorry nevermind. The special tools on 15$ so I'll just go grab that.

If you don't mind destroying the sending units, then vise grips will work.

Ha, I don't mind at all. What are they really good for anyways? I just can't get in there with vise grips. I already unbolted the right bracket to get easier access. There just isn't enough room.

Not really, no. Mines just extremely corroded. The water temp sensor needs a 1" deep socket.

Well if anyones interested in this for future reference, the new electrical sending unit won't fit without the block interfering. I guess you guys are going to get your way after all. Mechanical it is.

I take it someone here has used the mechanical oil psi gauge from autometer with success? I hope? I'm about to order it and the last thing I need it another 50$ paperweight.

It's not a standard size and a regular socket (even a deep well) won't fit. It's really does require the special socket. Also the tool holds the sender tight so it doesn't fall out when removing it.

Just get a short length of pipe or go to a junkyard and look for an 87 or 88 V8 truck and grab the extension. It's just a 1/4 NPT thread, so you should be able to find something to move the sender off of the block. No sense spending more money for something you already have.
