1994 F-350 dual battery/dual alternator - how to???
have a "94 f-350 with 460 single battery/single alternator - will be using for plowing and plan on dual batteries - like the diesel I used to have & thought dual alternators would be nice upgrade.....any suggestions on how to do the wiring????...mounting the alternator is not a problem for me....
thanks in advance

Just tie the alternator's output wires together. They have their own regulators correct? Thats the way the factory does it.
I will say though, that you are going to a lot of trouble for a snowplow. I ran my plow with the stock 60amp alternator and the one starting battery. All I had to do was set the idle speed up a little bit, and it worked fine all winter.

thanks Franklin2...surprised that there arent diodes required to prevent the alternators from damaging each other.....you sure thats how the factory does it?...
Plowing in Virginia is a bit different than here in Buffalo, NY.....while you CAN get by with single battery plowing your driveway here.....if youre plowing any quantity of snow here........ the heater/lightbar/lights/wipers/plow take their toll & at least 2 batteries are required - 2 alternators probably IS overkill but would be nice insurance .....

They have 12 guage fusible links in both alternator output wires. The output wire leaves the alt on a single large wire, then it splits into two 12 guage fusible links in parallel, and then it goes back into a single large wire which goes to the large battery terminal on the starter relay. It does this for both alternators. I am looking at a 99 van with a diesel and dual alternators. It doesn't tell me the guage wire, but I would use at least 10 gauge(easy to find), or 8 gauge(harder to find).
You could also use parallel 10 gauge wires. The factory actually did this on the 3g alternators.
