Well I've owned my 08 F250 for about 3 months and racked up about 5500mi. I have also checked into this site daily and have read a considerable amount of positive and some negative feedback on the truck and 6.4 diesel. I feel that I couldn't have chose a better truck. The milage issues are not that important to me. Things like the tailgate step which is a blessing for someone like me with my arthritis makes up for a measly few HP or MPG gained by other brands. The leather interior is second to none in my opinion and she is built like a brick outhouse. When I returned the truck for it's first service I could not find a single thing to complain to the dealer about. Yeah it's a complicated piece of machinery and sooner or later somthing will need to be fixed or replaced but in the meantime it's one sweet ride.

Nipperdog - good post. I've had my 450 for about three months (about 6K miles), and all in all am satisfied with it. My only two requests to Ford would be for a larger fuel tank (50 gallons would be nice), and for a couple of additional overdrive ranges in the tranny so I could get better mileage when running empty or lightly loaded.

After pulling max CGVW 500 miles earlier this month (32,500 lbs), I can attest that it's a great tow vehicle.

All in all it's a great truck thus far.

My 2008 F-450 is the third dually that I have owned, and it is also the best one yet. My first two duallies where Chevy Silverados with the Duramax/Allison powertrain. The only thing I like better on the Silverado is the 6-speed Allison tranny, but the Ford Torque Shift is a close second place. Even though the Duramax has more H.P. and torque, the F-450 has the competition beat in most other areas; IMO.

What kind of milage are you getting empty or lightly loaded?

I too have had mine over 2 months now, and put on 6100 miles. Not one single issue. I absolutely love this truck. The mileage is getting better over time, but still not that great. I am getting 16.8 hwy and around 14 in town.

I've had mine seven months now, put 17000 miles on her, done quite a bit of pretty tough pulling, and I'm still in love.

I've had my F450 just over 3,000 miles and have not had one problem to date.

I have just over 15k miles on my 450. It is by far the best truck I have ever owned although my 06 250 is a close 2nd even though it does not tow as well. I had the rear differential crap out at 6k, they replaced it and no problems since.

This is a good post. Usually the only time people post is when there is a problem. I agree with the fuel tank capacity issue but other than that I'm in heaven. Its a way better truck than my 01 PSD.

The new Fords are awesome. Great fit and finish. Those assy folks in KY and the suppliers are take pride in their work and it shows. This truck is simply put together. Everything on the 08 seems well thought out. The built in brake controller is working better than the aftermarket controller I had in my last truck. The truck rides great, its a firm ride, but it rides good. I thought the bed step was simply gimmicky at first, but when I was installing my tool box, it was very easy to use to get in and out of the bed. My dad is 74 and he thought the bed step was one of the best features on my truck. The truck is quiet and the interior is quiet on the road. I used to have an 05 F150 Lariat 4x4. . .I've forgotten all about it.

8000 miles since March- mileage getting better. No issues- had it back for the flame reflash and an oil change only. Build quality seems very good. Happy so far- interior is light years better than my previous 2500 GMC crew cab.
