exhaust question
looking at doing new exhaust on the 390.
do i go with a dual setup with 3 inch into cheery bombs and out the back, do i go with dual 2.5 into a y pipe to 3 inch thru a muffler to the back, or go with duals but in the 2.5 pipe size? any opions would be very helpful. looking to get good performance and nice throughty sound.

2 1/2" should be plenty, especially if you're running the stock log manifolds. I'd keep it true duals if you can, do you have an aux. gas tank in the way? Cherry bombs are loud, even more without an H pipe. Dump the exhaust in front of the rear tires, going over the axle really quiets it up.

Go with the dual 2 1/2 in front of the rear tires. Get nice mufflers, not cherrybombs. I just did this to my truck, and only spent $245 on the complete job. I got V-force mufflers. They have dual chambers and are fully welded (just like flowmaster's) but are about 1/2 the price. It sounds good, and added a lot of power

When I bought my 72 it had dual 2 1/2s running into dual cherry bombs, no h-pipe, into 3 inch stacks. It was ridiculously loud 
but thats why I loved it:P When I get that truck and the '71 together as 1, I'll have the same ol redneck setup. I don't recommend it if you have neighbors, a wife, children, or small pets as they may run and never come back.
