FE Camshaft Timing

Installing the Cloyes True Roller last night and noticed offset timing notches on the crank drive gear. I set it straight up and now I wonder if changing it would be a good idea. There are three marks on three keyways on the crank chain drive gear, a triangle, a rectangle and an o. I used the o since it was straight up. Have any of you used the other keyways and what were the results?

reatrding your cam will give you more top end and less bottom. advaincing will do the opposite. The later FEs were retarded 8 degrees from the factory to help with emmisions so just installing an aftermarket timing chain can get you some more umph.
