Oil pan replacement 99 Ranger 4X4 3.0L
Hello,
On changing an oil pan (leaks really bad) on a 99 Ranger 4X4 3.0L, Automatic Transmission. The Haynes manual sais the engine needs to be pull. I'm not real excited about doing this.
Does anyone know of a work around to avoid pulling the engine?
BTW, 168,000 Miles

Whoa yeah thats pretty bad!!! You might be able to get away with unbolting motor mounts and anything that doesn't have enough slack in it to take it. Un bolt the pan and jack up the motor using a u shaped hunk of metal (a cut in half rim outer, or anything that spans the pan and contacts the block) try shimmying out the pan that way would be the easiest! You may have to disconnect driveshaft, tranny mount. Or worst case scenario get a cherry picker or my favorite a friend with a sod fork lift! You shouldn't have to take the motor all the way out in any case!! I would sand and paint the new one with cold galvanizing paint then paint that or leave it the CGP silver for road heat rejection!
