I was parked next to an 05 XLT Screw and noticed it was about 2 inches lower than my 07 King Ranch Supercrew. Both trucks are factory stock. I then noticed there was 1 less leaf in my truck. Was this change made to lower the 07's ?
I would guess that the King Ranch has one less leaf in the springs to improve the ride. Was the leaf that was not in your KR the short bottom over-load leaf?
Did you happen to notice if the other truck had 17" tires on it?
Both 4WD. Mine has 18 inch tires, the XLT had 17 inch. There was only 1/2 '' difference in the tire . There was another leaf in the XLT. It was obvious because the U clamps that hold the leafs together were "full' on the XLT but there is "space" in mine. Was there any changes in the model years ? The payload stickers read exacly the same. So wouldn't my leafs have to be stiffer ?
We put them side by side and measured them. His (05 XLT) is exactly 2 1/4 inches higher than my 07 King Ranch. Both are Super Crews. I have 18 inch wheels, he has 17's. Both are factory stock. The 05 has an extra leaf in the rear. But I looked at another King Ranch today and it's just like mine ( less a leaf). They must have made a change from 05 to 07 or there is a leaf difference between models.
your truck is also a wee heavier than an XLT. leather + the center console + premium audio system + all that nice stuf = weight. you got a good 300 lbs on him if not more.
I don't think it's enough to say 2.5", but every lil' bit adds up.
were you both on full or empty on gas? 30 gallons of gas up or down might also play a factor...
