U joints problem?!?!

Well im new here as you can see by my post count, but ive owned my 79' for almost a year now and this is the 3rd rear U-joint ive had to replace, the truck has 4 inch lift, and nothing to special but i swear it ever since i put the boggers on there i keep having to replace them, and its only one of the 4 arms that wears out. when you pull the cap off of the 4 post on the u joint one of them is always worn down to about 1/4 the size of the rest of them. any ideas??
heres a visual of the truck, so you can see the hieght and tire size combo

Wow

very nice truck.. boggers Love them tires! heres what i would do.. shouldnt matter that it has boggers on it.. but check the UJOINT YOKE on the rear end it self.. look to see if its aligned in the center.. there is usually 2 tabs on both sides of the joke that hold it in the center.. make sure they are there and holding it perfect center.. another thing to do.. when you tighten your ujoint straps down.. dont tighten them like crazy.. just do them snug.. you can actually over tighten them pretty easy and make the cap oval without being able to see it .. that can wear them uneven.. also chevy the ujoint yoke for clean where the ujoint sits in it.. if its got debree in it that will make it wear uneven.. next time you replace it..

1. check for the yokes centering tabs

2. check the yoke for clean

3. 3 buy a dana spicer ujoint.. not them cheap ones.. and i prefer the ones without the grease zerk on them.. as that is a weak oint when 4 wheeling.

4. wouldnt hurt to check driveline angle too since you have a lift also, check it for binding.. and that your slip yoke is long enough under compression and extension. also look at your sprin perches on the axle tube.. post more pictures for us of the angle and such..

watch on the tightening of the caps. most people tighten them down too much and usally egg the cup or squash the bearings between the cups and won't accept the proper amount of grease and begins to heat up and burn out.

Buy the ones with zerks instead.

Also make sure you are getting the correct U-Joints per application.

There are MANY different ones.

Spicer is a brand name and a good one.zerks make it possible to grease the ujoints but some claim the 1/4" hole and the worm holes going to each cap weakins the unit.
Depends on how hard you are( on the truck).
My truck has spicers w/ no zerks and theyre good but I wish I knew how long theyve been on it. Its possible they have 78k miles on them.

im not sure what front end i have, the boggers are 35x14.5x15, the truck does awsome in the mud and water, we went threw a mud hole that looked like it might be 2 ft deep......turns out it was head light deep but i pulled out of it nicely, i was just told by my buddy that the noise im hearing this time might be my transfer case!he said i have a leak and i need to refill it but i didnt see any spot to refil it, im gonna buy ALL new ujoints front, carrier and rear, just to be safe, so are these spicer ones the best to use, i drive less than 5k a year on it but i do wheel in the mud alot! so with that should i buy the ones with zerks or one with out? its all so confusing

ya i dominated the hole! its twice the lenght of what you can see

I doesn't look like too radical of a lift to be causing the problem. I have seen a lot of trucks with more radical lifts without having U-Joint problems.

zerks

you dont need jerks to grease your ujoints.. thats just for the people that are being lazy. u can pull the caps off them and regrease them without having a zerk.

Ray

of course the zerk makes it more convienent, but you give up strength
