Ohms for glow plugs and Fusible Link for 14gauge wire

What is the number for to indicate good glow plugs in ohms on a 91 7.3 IDI F250?

Also, how large of a fusible link can be placed on a 14g wire?

Thanks.

Fuse links are usually specified at 2 gauge sizes smaller than the circuit wiring.

If the glowplug reads 1 ohm or less(pretty much a dead short to ground), then it's good.

Let me clarify. The controller with no load on it is only drawing 1 amp. With a load (2 or more plugs conected) it draws well past my 50amp ammeter. That is why we think there is a short in the controller, but then the question came up, could it draw more? We had a melted fusable link and wanted to replace it with a 50 amp fuse and holder.

Funny thing is in the early am we tested it and it drew 40 amps that influenced our decision to do the 50 amp fuse. So when we got it rewired, as a test, we put a 30 amp fuse in and it blew immediately. That is when we re measured and it blew off the dial. Could it be that the controller draws more amps when the temperature rises? Or does it have a short? We did individual tests to make sure no plugs were shorting, just any 2 or more will make it short.

My next move is to double check the plugs (they are less than a year old, so we figured them to be good) and see what the normal amperage draw is for that controller. If it is plus 50 then it might be fine and not need replacement. I hope this clarifies what I am getting at. Thanks.
