My waterfall has a 1/2 hp waterpump designed for a spa. It has one and a half inch fittings and lifts the water about seven feet. No gpm rate is listed, but it is an impressive flow for that much lift.
I have it mounted level with the bottom of the lowest pool in the waterfall and it has a plastic filter basket that is easy to empty.
they must of felt sorry for me, they came through with another pump, its not brand new, it was a display pump.not sure how long she'll last, But what I would like to know is, if I have to have a oneway valve in the outlet line to the top of the waterfall. their telling me that pushing the water up the line on start up is hard on the bearings. the pump is in the pond always covered in water(it never runs dry in other words) and it pushes water up 3 1/2 to 4' through a 2" line
I run an aquarium store and for reliability I would recommend a Danner mag drive. I run a mag 18 on my reef tank and have installed many in ponds and large aquariums. All parts are easy to find and replace.
Thanks! Yeh it was a back breaker! I had to drive about 10 miles to get that bluish colored rock, I handed picked it all trying to get as flat a rock as possible, it was quite chucky stuff. 1/2 hp spa pump hey!, I'll have to look into that
