Needle bearing?
Anyway. 97 F-350 Powerstroke 4x4. I have this weird wear on the inside of driver side steering tire, it is uneven kinda in waves. Wheel itself has slight but noticeable inward tilt. Seems to me the wheel wobbles a little. Could be caused by failed needle bearing.<O
I am not much of a mechanic. I do simple stuff like starter, alternator, radiator etc. Is it something I could fix of should I take it to a pro? If it is not extremely complicated can somebody tell me how it is done? <O
Thanks.
I am assuming you are talking aut the two big tapered Roller bearings in the hub.
If it is the wheel bearing, at least on my 94 F250, it is a pretty easy job, IF you have an impact wrench, the correct Wheel nut socket and you know that there is a big C clip that sits in a groove on the inside diameter of the hub. Once you got those, it is pretty easy, assuming the 350 hub is similar to the 250.
Also I think the hubs are left and right threaded depending on which side of the truck you are on. A Chiltons or Haynes can be a big help on this, although they don't make it clear about that big C clip.
Good Luck,
