What kind of hose?
I have a 2000 Explorer sport and the Service engine light came on so off to Autozone I went and the pulled the dreaded P1401 code. Well immediately I knew it was probably the DPFE sensor (I only knew that because I read the posts here daily! ) Sure enough the larger of the 2 hoses to the DPFE sensor had deteriorated internally in a large area. I purchased a new DPFE sensor and new hose's. Now the question: I used regular ole 5/16 & 1/4" fuel hose between the exhaust fittings and the sensor (because thats what it had) But is that the type of hose that goes there or is it some type of special compound type of hose that goes there? Hopefully the DPFE sensor is the problem because the EGR valve looks like it would be a total biach to get the nut loose that goes to the exhaust tube!

I would think any high-temperature rated vacuum hose would work. I've not had to replace these hoses yet, but have cleaned one out before. I'm sure Ford has a part for this, but I'm sure it's more expensive than getting a piece of hose at NAPA --- hell, ask them what would be good for that application.
