Well it appears as if my ocupation will be sending me to Buffalo NY to process in a plastics blow molding machine for a week. Has anyone ever been to this area? I know Niagra Falls is close but what else? This is not going to be a vacation by any means but I might have a little free time.
Buffalo has a Maritime Museum and one of the ships is the USS Laffey, a destroyer that survived 5 Kamikaze hits off Okinawa in 1945.
President William McKinley was assassinated in Buffalo in 1901. When Teddy Roosevelt was summoned to Buffalo to take the oath of office, he did so at a doctors house which is now a museum.
Check out the local Power Plant...some of the largest steam engines ever produced are there.
Pierce Arrow was located in Buffalo, the administration building still stands.
The baseball park used in the film "The Natural" is in Buffalo.
There's also local museums on the city's history...and if you still are looking for something unique, drive east to the small town of Leroy, where you will find a museum devoted to...Jello!
The town of Lockport, east of Buffalo has the world's widest bridge, and offers a boat tour on remnants of the Erie Canal.
It was recently discovered that an Egyptian Mummy, on display in a local museum was Ramses II. The mummy has since returned home to Egypt.

What do you know about Canton/Cleavland Ohio?
Knowing a bit of Buffalo NY's history might surprise some, considering we live in Los Angeles County.
My wife travels a lot, as she's a Corrosion Engineer (she's heading to Libya, of all places, tomorrow..I'm staying home). She had a conference in Niagara Falls several years ago. We added 12 extra days to explore the area after the confab ended. Since both of us are history buffs, we went everywhere we could, from the Welland Canal to the former Studebaker factory in Hamilton, and the Canadian Museum in Toronto. We then drove around the lake to Syracuse (went to the Erie Canal and the Salt Museum), then back to Buffalo, stopping along the way (we drive back roads whenever possible) at the Jello museum and Lockport. Driving back roads is beneficial to the collector...you won't see diddly-squat from the Interstates. There's always that "mystery barn" full of goodies you might fall into.
We've never been to Canton/Cleveland. I do know that the Football Hall of Fame is in Canton.
